Make up ideas

These are our initial ideas we could use for our antagonist With the makeup, it it kind of a cross over with the characters from IT and The Dark Knight as we had taken inspirations from both the main antagonist in these two movies.

This is our first initial idea of what makeup design we want to use on our antagonist for our horror trailer. As you can see in the photos we have used three colours, red, black and white. These colours make the antagonist stand out because the white covers the face which hides the identity of this character, the black around the eyes make the eyes stand out for the antagonist but also the audience are able to see clearly where this character is looking and the red around the lips is very effective because you can see it isn't tidy or neat which is what we wanted because this is a psychopath clown after all. We used makeup so that the audience could see the facial expressions of the antagonist and would make a great effect for the trailer as the audience would feel on the edge because of them seeing the face of the antagonist.

Bruise Makeup Tutorial

When doing research for other makeup tutorials to make our antagonist seem more scary/crazy, we had come across this video of how to do bruising makeup. When we were watching this tutorial, we thought as a group this would be effective for our antagonist as so it can show the audience that he has injuries or seems hurt.

Clown Makeup Tutorial

When doing research for clown makeup, we had come around this video which looked really good. The video is showing how to make yourself look like this type of clown and how to create this type of character. As a group we feel like this would be great to use to help us bring our antagonist alive because of the different ideas and things being used, such as the mouth with the teeth and red lips making this clown look scary but also the black eyeliner with the contacts bring out the eyes of the clown which is really effective.

Storyline

A psychopath who escapes from a mental institute, hides his identity as a crazy clown. Brother and sister known as Shannon and Sean, live in one happy family home and have nothing to be scared of. Until they see something which changes their lives...

Wanted Poster idea

As an idea, we thought in our trailer, we should include a wanted poster of the antagonist. This is because the antagonist has escaped from a mental institute, making him a wanted person. We are going to have a picture of the clown in the box so that the audience can have a first look of what the antagonist looks like but also because we are going to use a wanted poster in our trailer, this will be the first time the characters come across this clown as well. But this will then come across threatening for the audience as the antagonist is wanted, suggesting he is dangerous.

Soundtrack research

Soundtrack research for trailer

When researching for soundtracks to go into our trailer, we had come across this soundtrack, which includes slow tension building up and unusual sounds. The sounds I can hear are gushes of wind and high pitch, kind of like white noise which makes it effective and would sound great in our trailer, because this would make it more into a horror trailer. But it would be great to use to help build up the jumpy/tense scene in the trailer.

So we had found one soundtrack which is very effective and can be used in our trailer, but also I had come across another soundtrack, "Intense Horror Whispering Music". When listening to this, I thought this would be great to use in our horror trailer because at the start it is very quite and it starts to build up through out and this would be very handy to use in our trailer because when we haven't got tense scenes we can have this in the background for it to the build up towards a jumpy/tense part of the trailer.

We found another soundtrack which would be great for horror trailer and could be used as non diegetic music in the background.

This type of music is calming and when you listen to it, it makes you feel relaxed. This would be ideal for our trailer as this could be used at the opening of "The Craze". At the start of the trailer we want it to be calm and appealing for the audience and it would match with the opening shots that the audience will see but also it will make it more effective as a whole.

Certificate research

Image result for PG

PG -  Parental Guidance is where an adult may have to be there for the child to watch the film because there may be unsuitable scenes for them to watch on their own. A PG film shouldn't be unsettling for a child around the eight or older because most PG films are aimed for children around this age.

Image result for 12a/12
Image result for 15 logo12A/12 - If a film has an age rating of 12A, this means if the viewer is under the age of 12, they must have an adult with them to watch the film, because the film could have violent scenes which is not appropriate for the viewer. If a film has an age rating of 12, this means the viewer must be the age of 12 to see the film because it could include inappropriate scenes which isn't acceptable for under 12's.

Image result for 18 logo15 - If a film has an age rating of 15, they must be the age of 15 and not younger. This is because of the type of language being used such as swear words, violent scenes may be used, such as fighting or graphical scenes including blood.

18 - If a film has an age rating of 18, they must look and be the age of 18 and not younger because films with the age rating of 18 can include some things that are not appropriate for younger ages. In films that are an age rating of 18 they include graphical scenes which wouldn't be suitable for younger than 18, sex scenes are sometimes included, depends on what the storyline is, drug use and inappropriate language is also seen in these films.

Completed questionnaire results

Above is the results from the questionnaire we created for our trailer. We asked our target audience to fill in this questionnaire to help us out for our trailer we will be creating. The final results that we received are very useful for us as a group as they can help influence and indicate our choices for what we should include in our trailer and the choices we make as a group.

Storyboard

Before we decided to do any filming, we thought it was best to do a layout of our trailer onto a storyboard so that we knew exactly what we were filming, sound/dialogue being used and the type of camera shots and angles that we wanted to use. By using the storyboard, it would help us know what scene to film and what to include in each scene for our trailer.

Questionnaire for Horror Trailer

Character's Profile

Main Characters:

Shannon: Shannon is one of the protagonists of the trailer and she plays the role of a sister to Sean who is also the other protagonist but also the victim of the clown character. She has a shy and quiet personality and can also be shown as childish when seen with others, this is why she would fit the role of the stereotypical horror film protagonist. Her personality would make the audience engage more and to empathise with her.

Sean: Sean is also one of the protagonist of the trailer and he plays the role of a brother to Shannon. He may seem similar to Shannon, but he has a slightly more confident personality and can also be a timid character. His personality would make the audience engage more and to empathise with him.

Baily (Clown): Baily plays the role of the antagonist of the trailer whom name is unknown. He has a rough background and is shown to be very lonely as he has previously been in a psychiatric hospital. This then makes him to escape and take out his anger by going undercover as a evil sinister clown to scare and terrify the public

Final Title Name

For our trailer, we decided that the title should be called The Craze. Reason we wanted our trailer to be called this is because the word "craze" means a person is wildly insane or out of control and our antagonist is a crazy psychopath clown who will be shown being out of control. The text of the title is very effective because its very horror like and unique as we wanted the text to be different and to stand out. The text is in a light grey and stands out well on a black background, where the audience are able to read it because its clear and understandable to see.

Mind Map for trailer

Above is a mind map of what ideas we had come up with for our horror trailer. In the middle is the name of our trailer which is going to be called "The Craze", we decided as a group that would be our final title for our trailer. We then have the story-line on there so we know when it comes to filming we can look back at our mind-map to remind us. We have locations of where we could possibly film,  soundtrack of what to use in the trailer to make it more effective. The age rating for our film which will be a 15 because there will be tense and jumpy scenes. Also have who the characters are and who are playing them. Having this mind-map is very handy for us because we can look back on it if needed.

Use of Titles

The Use Of Titles:                               Throughout our trailer, there are several different types of titles being used. For exam...
